Maximus and I with an Arizona sunset

Coming soon

The Maximus Fund is a vision for the future and probably not what most would think. It’s not a vision of a nonprofit for pets or animals but for the elderly. Maximus was a lover of people. He was a family dog and loved on everyone. He made many elderly friends due to the nature of living the RV life.

The elderly have become a seemingly forgotten segment of society since COVID-19 in 2020. Around the US, we’ve seen major upticks in homelessness. Many people, especially seniors, cannot afford to live in a traditional home anymore because of the huge cost of living increases (insurances, housing, food, etc). According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, we saw a record high number of homeless people for a single night in January 2023. Some 653,104 experienced homelessness, which was 12.1% more than in 2022. USAFacts.org says that the homeless population in the US has risen 32.5% from 2022 to 2024.

However, we don’t need stats to see it. Homelessness has a very different face than what it had many years prior. We could even say there are many different classes of homelessness now. We often think of news reports from Los Angeles or New York showing homeless camps, but the problem is much greater than this. There are so many seemingly invisible people in every state who are experiencing homelessness in some way. While resources may limit the ability to get people off the streets, there are things we can do to make their lives more comfortable. One such thing is a heating kit for the homeless that would include a heater and refillable propane tanks. Small things can be large things.

My dream is to first start focusing on the elderly and expanding out as the organization grows. Let’s love like Jesus and be light for the world.
